1 - Driving

Driving SB I-5 just past 152, going around 70-75 mph.

2 - Losing control

We think, based on my memory of how it happened and seemingly supported by this picture the other three tires seemed to be fine), that the back passenger tire suddenly blew. It sent the car to turning to the right, and I started to lose control.

3 - Swerving

I remember swerving, and even though I know in my head that you always turn into the direction you're spinning, in the split-seconds while it was happening, I instinctively over-corrected, pulling my steering wheel left.

4 - Rolling

At the speed I was going, pulling hard to the left while my momentum was going right, caused the car to roll. I don't know how many times I rolled--at that point everything was a blur.

Here was where I feel like time slowed down. Even though this all happened within seconds, I felt like thought about a lot of things. As I was rolling, I came to terms that I was simply not going to make it. I remember thinking that at 70 mph, I was definitely in my last moments.

So I prayed, but what I prayed wasn't pleading with God to save me, but to please take care of Chesney, Caleb and Tyler after I was gone. I mentally told them that I loved them...then prepared myself to die. I didn't even scream.

I have no idea how I thought about of this in a few seconds, or even how I remember thinking these things--I just do.

5 - Stopped

The car thankfully didn't hit anyone else, and came to rest on the right side of the road. I was in a daze...not really in control of my actions, but I do remember being shocked that I was still alive--let alone conscious.

I looked a few moments for my phone so I could call 911, but gave up after a few seconds, and got out of the car. I started walked away from the car as I slowly came out of my dazed state. People who had stopped to help were already around me, including a truck driver who probably saved my life by bandaging my head wound within minutes (the paramedics and police arrived a bit later). I didn't realize how much I was bleeding until we saw the car and the blood stains in the cabin.
