The Cruise: Acapulco

As we were coming into port in Acapulco, we got to see a little bit of an airshow over the major hotel strip
The Mexican Coast Guard comes to help the ship into port
Since this was our first stop and we didn't dock until noon everyone was either looking out of thier balcony winow or up at the top of the ship to see the ship dock
Another cruise ship was already there when we arrived
A jet skier comes close to check out the ship
We head out to explore the town
We walked out away from the dock and got a taxi for about $4 cheaper then if we had taken one of the ones right off the dock
First stop of the day was the famous Cliff Divers
We arrived at the same time as a large bus tour so there were a lot of people there
The divers first climb up the rocks to get to the diving spots
They dove from a few different places on the rocks
Since they were diving close to shore they would stand and watch the waves to make sure they were high enough for diving
Then when the wave was just right they would get ready to go

We walked a little ways then decided it was time for some helado (ice cream)
This church was originally a movie set, then the town liked it and it is now a full functioning Catholic church
Inside the church
We were in Acapulco for the Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebrations
In the main square people set up beautiful alters to honor those who had died
They would put the favorite foods and other favorite items of the deceased
Around dinner we went back to the ship
Caleb was tired from the day out
Tim and I went back out to the main square later that night to see the Día De Los Muertos Celebration
This was a memorial altar for Manuel Camacho
We then went over to Paradise restaurant for dinner
The food was delicious
